Quote Freak
So, for those of you who do not personally know me, I love quotes! I’m what most people would consider a quote freak. Like, I seriously love quotes! I have a few different Pinterest boards full of quotes.
Quote Frequency
Many times when I am scrolling through Facebook I see at least 10 quotes being shared by my friends. Most of the time, I agree with them and they get saved to my phone or iPad. If I’m on Pinterest I see a lot more since it shows you the things you are most interested in or have saved the most. I really do have a bunch of different quote boards there. ( I just went and counted…I have four.) My point is that I see and read a lot of different quotes every day depending on how often I get on either of those platforms. That does not include any that people send me either.
Quote Danger
Today I saw a quote that really got me. I have seen it before and at first I agreed with it and felt bad, but then I stopped to think about it. Here’s the quote I saw:
Now, as you already know from my last post, things have not been going as amazingly as I would like lately so I have not been in the best state of mind. I read this and immediately felt bad. My best friend lives almost an hour away so we do not get to hang out as much as we would like. I have all of the stuff I mentioned in my last post going on and she has also been dealing with a lot. Yes, there are times when I wish she would respond to me or when I really need her to be there in person with me, but it’s not always possible. When I read this, due to my doubts on people really wanting to be my friend in the first place, I immediately thought of her.
This is the danger with anything we allow into our lives. Yes, this is a true statement for most people. You bet if my best friend needed me, I would do everything in my power to be there. It doesn’t mean that I would for sure make it though.
Quote vs. Reality
We all need to take the time to stop and think through things that are influencing us, especially when they make us feel doubt or sadness. I could have just read it, felt that my best friend really doesn’t care that much about me, and added one more thing to my list of ”suckiness” at the moment. Thankfully, I stopped and thought about what I know she is dealing with at the moment as well and how we are both doing our best to help each other while working through everything we have going on.
So next time you are out on any social media and see a quote that makes you feel something other than inspiration, remember what this quote freak told you. Check with with your reality and see if it is really true in your situation.
